“Leadership from the USAF Academy”

Find out the various topics about leadership that an    Air Force Academy Cadet learned, not from his classes but, from interacting with a janitor at the school.

“Teamwork and YOU!”

How well do you work in a team environment? What about when you are assigned a task to complete in a team? This seminar teaches the "need to know" about teamwork with a hands on approach.

“Smart Eating”

 Did you know that there are specific types of foods that will help you perform better in PT, how about with test taking? And, this doesn't mean going on a diet... find out in this seminar.

“Aerospace and Scholarships”

The facilitator of this seminar has his pilot's license and will be sharing the points of aerospace education he finds most interesting and fun; there will also be information about CAP scholarships and how to obtain them.

 

 

CADET PROGRAMS

“Cadet Programs Update”

Dissemination of Cadet Programs information from the higher echelons to subordinates, discussion and briefing on upcoming activities, and general discussion pertaining to the Cadet Program.

 

“Cadet Programs Management”

Fundamentals of leading and motivating a cadet or composite squadron. This seminar will instruct officers on how to properly utilize their cadet staff to the full potential, as well as the roles and responsibilities, and administration required for leaders of cadets.

“Civil Air Patrol Scholarships and National Cadet Special Activities”

Every year thousands of dollars worth of scholarships for both officers and cadets to advance their education and/or training is not even applied for. This seminar will make members aware of the oppertunities and benifets of the CAP Scholarship Program. This seminar will also touch upon National Cadet Special Activities

 

EMERGENCY SERVICES

"Search and rescue robots, a new mission for CAP”

Robots are starting to be utilized in search and rescue operations.  This seminar discusses the synergy of search and rescue robot operations with CAP capabilities and all three missions of CAP.  MAWG has recently formed a group to explore the possibilities in this exciting new area of search and rescue.   We will discuss our goals and progress

“Disaster Assessment”

The purpose of this course is to introduce the critical role of Disaster Assessment, explore related preparedness tasks, learn how to collect and communicate disaster assessment information, and become familiar with how disaster assessment information supports management and service delivery decisions.   Completion of this course allows members to take part on a joint Civil Air Patrol and American Red Cross Disaster Assessment Team. 

“CPR”

Learn how to save a life! The Heartsaver CPR Course teaches CPR and relief of airway obstruction. This course is appropriate and encouraged for both cadets and senior members.

 

OPS/PILOTS

“Communications Update”

Wing Communications Staff will have a Power Point presentation on recent communications changes.  We will also present future plans and changes affecting our communications system.  We will provide for open discussion of communications topics of interest to the participants.

“Scanner School”

Course includes the ground preparatory training required for the Scanner Rating. Upon completion of the training on Saturday, there is a planned flying session (weather permitting) on Sunday to complete the Scanner rating. Attendees must have completed Level 1 and the General ES qualifications and have the approval of their squadron commander noted on their Scanner SQTR record." Class size is limited by availability of aircraft, trainers and evaluators. Get your reservations in early. First come, first served.

“Changes in Professional Development and Testing”

This seminar will discuss some recent changes in Professional Development and testing procedures for 2010.

“Finance Updates”

Transparency is our commander’s vision and this will be a meeting to discuss new policies and procedures for unit finances for 2010.

“Chaplains Services Overview”

An information session explaining the Chaplain Services program, what we offer, a review of the CAP regulations regarding Character Development and some tips on recruiting Chaplains and Character Development Instructors.

PAO - Today, Tomorrow and Beyond!”

This seminar will include an open forum discussion addressing local unit issues, concerns, newsletter design, social networking sites and those changes affecting the Public Affairs office at the National, Region, Wing and local level

“SIMS/E-Services”

 

AEROSPACE TRACK

"Lunar landers to space elevators: exciting current events in space development."

Synopsis: "A survey of recent space related competitions involving small entrepreneurial groups.  Including short video clips and descriptions of the events and teams.   Intended to motivate CAP members, especially cadets, about the opportunities for participation in exciting real world space projects in their careers.  These are current events that every CAP member should be aware of."

"Decoding the Sectional Chart"

Synopsis: "Participants will be given an introduction to the sectional aeronautical charts used by pilots.  Then, they will form small teams and compete in a series of challenges in which they will apply the information that they have learned."

“AEO Review”

The Director of AE will discuss new reporting procedures for 2010 and provide time for discussion about each units AE program and ways to improve.
